The Contino Reserva has shown since its inception in the 70's, the innovative style based on the classic tradition of Rioja combined with elegant fruit and well-structured characters.
Contino continues to evolve on the basis of its single vineyard philosophy with the introduction of Viņa del Olivo, from a small parcel within the estate and with a single varietal wine from the Graciano grape. These are both wines which combine fruit and aromatic characteristics with a good tannin structure.

The three varietals on which Contino wines are based are; Tempranillo which gives a good balance between sugar, colour and acidity ; Mazuelo which gives good tannin structure ; and Graciano which has good colour and a powerful aromatic characteristic.
Contino was a pioneer in rescuing almost from oblivion the Graciano grape. Normally 10 to 15% is used in the estate wines which helps to impart colour, acidity and aromatic intensity.
