Viña Real grows half of its production on vineyards near the winery. The rest is contracted through local growers.
The harvest is done by hand, since this is the most careful way to pick the grapes, and it is up to the winegrower to decide on the right time to harvest.
They must wait until the grape reaches the desired level of ripeness. To know when the perfect time has arrived, periodic tests are done and the fruit is subjected to painstaking care. At Viña Real, the grapes undergo the highest levels of oversight and quality control, from the vine until they become wine.
For the wine grower, the harvest is the critical time of year, the trial by fire, since the last two or three weeks before the harvest play a decisive role in the ultimate quality of the wine.
Once harvested and transported to the winery, the grapes are placed in automatic hoppers that gently process the bunches, placing them on conveyors.
The conveyors act as a sorting table, where only grapes in perfect condition are hand selected.
